Hugh Dillon’s ability to capture honest portrayals of complicated characters has been his calling card. He first earned notoriety in the multi-platinum punk rock band, the Headstones, where he caught the attention of filmmaker Bruce McDonald, who cast him in Dance Me Outside. He followed this up with his critically acclaimed lead performance in Hard Core Logo. In 2004, Debra Granik cast Hugh to star opposite Vera Farmiga in the Sundance Film Festival award-winning movie, Down To The Bone.
Hugh scored the lead role in the dark and twisted serial Durham County, which lead to his breakout performance as Ed Lane in CBS/CTV’s Flashpoint. In early 2013, Dillon joined the cast of AMC’s The Killing, going head-to-head with Peter Sarsgaard. He simultaneously portrayed a mysterious CEO on Showcase’s sci-fi police drama Continuum, following this up in 2014, with the DirecTV series Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight. His roles in these critically acclaimed television series have garnered multiple acting nominations, including his win at the Canadian Screen Awards, for Best Lead Actor in 2014. He has continued his successful streak with coveted roles in Twin Peaks, feature film Wind River alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner, and Syfy’s The Expanse.
He is currently stepping back into his role as Duncan Sinclair, for the third and final season of CBC’s acclaimed spy drama, X Company.
Hugh has been back in the studio with the Headstones in a big way, recording Love+Fury and One In The Chamber Music in 2013 and 2014 respectively, as well as their first-ever vinyl release, late 2015. These titles have earned them a #1 hit single on Rock Radio, and their first Top 10 record release.
